I love everything that summer represents: beach days, bright colors, breezy dressing. Summer isn’t just a season—it’s a state of mind. Our tropical country has lots of sunshine all year round but it’s the Spring-Summer season when accessories go into maximum color overload. Here’s a list of our favorite summer accessories from local designers.

1. EARRINGS

This year we see the continuation of the tassel boho trend in earrings. These shoulder dusters are fun to wear for day or night. They brighten up your neutrals and add a certain joie de vivre when you pack them for your summer travels. Jewelry designer Nicole Whisenhunt’s earrings are feminine and flirty with its combination of jewel tones and rose motifs. Order from Nicole Whisenhunt.Trends_SummerReadyAccessories6

First seen at the Objet Trouve trunk show, the Instagram retailer Peron.PH offers fun earrings at inexpensive prices. The brand combines metal with crystals and stones with all lengths of tassels in leather or cotton. These would make perfect gifts for your BFFs or for a beach weekender.Trends_SummerReadyAccessories3

2. BAGS

I love how bags this season use local materials as well as durable ones. Ken Samudio’s Matthew & Melka line of delicate florals dresses up this simple banig. Chic and practical, you can bring this to any and every occasion.

It’s hard to imagine these intricately weaved bags by Tali Handmade employ unconventional materials you wouldn’t associate with bag-making such as plastic straw- the kind you use for packing boxes. Inspired by ethnic tribal patterns, each product is proudly Filipino and paired with quality hardware and leather. Moreover, at the heart of Tali Handmade is a social endeavor: they employ indigent women to make these bags and slip-ons, which help lift them out of poverty.Trends_SummerReadyAccessories8

Even international shopping websites such as Far Fetch and The Modist stock these bags, making us love these Philippine made beauties even more.Trends_SummerReadyAccessories2

From the Japanese-inspired Wataru shoes now Luis makes limited edition closed and peep toe wedges as well as practical yet stylish slides that both men and women can wear. Be a tower of power in these 5-inch tall shoes that will complement your summer outfit. Order yours from the online shopping portal Seek the Uniq before sizes run out.Trends_SummerReadyAccessories5

4. HATS

Wearing a hat is essential when going to the beach or somewhere you’ll be under the sun a lot. Not only are they practical but also look great on social media! I am in love with personalized Kala Txtyle Connections hat perfect for my gypsetting beach travels. Next is an affordable woven floppy hat from Uniqlo that can be easily packed in a suitcase. Finally, should you visit the eco-resort Lagen Island of El Nido Resorts, this oversized banig hat is yours to use and keep. Stay at a villa at their newest resort Pangalusian Island, and you’ll get an even bigger hat!

Hope you all have a wonderfully bright and stylish summer!
