Last November 9, AirAsia’s #AirAsiaCreateCamp: The Search For the Next AirAsia Storyteller revealed its grand winner, Paolo Garrido of Mapua Institute of Technology. By joining AirAsia’s social media reality search, young, aspiring, and creative individuals with photography and videography skills like Garrido are empowered by providing mentorship programs and technical know-hows.

From over 500 entries, participants were narrowed down to 50, then on to Top 5 finalists that were carefully selected by judges based on their creativity and originality.

Aside from his obvious skills and creativity, Garrido, who emerged as the winner, was also described by AirAsia Philippines CEO Captain Dexter Comendador as hardworking and passionate, surviving the rigorous camp that took them from highlands to islands for an entire month.

Alongside Garrido are other contenders such as Raymond Baguillat from University of Baguio, Angela Cara Durano from De La Salle University in Cebu, and John Paul Saluba from University of Iloilo. They travelled to Bohol, Palawan, Tacloban, and the Cordilleras with AirAsia’s Storyteller mentors like Patrick Martin, Kyrke Jaleco, Nella Lomotan, Ayen dela Torre, Rachel Halili, Javi Cang, Enzo Cruz, Benj Ramos and Paolo Cuarteron. The Top 4’s final entries were then shared on AirAsia’s social media platforms for public viewing and voting.

There are so many stories out there to be discovered. Through #AirAsiaCreateCamp,  a platform for creative and aspiring talented individuals is provided. “AirAsia’s success story is about the power of a dream, a strong mindset and an exciting history fueled by passion, creativity and adventure”, Comendador adds.
