10 Fun Workshops to Try This Summer
I can’t believe we’re already three months into 2017! Time’s flying by so fast; I mean, it feels like it was just Christmas yesterday! For a lot of people, March means the start of summer vacation. It’s that time of the year when kids go out to play, families go on vacations, and friends hang by the beach. When I was younger, summer also meant enrolling in supplementary classes or taking up music and swimming lessons.
Now that I’m older, it doesn’t mean that learning has to stop. In fact, I strongly believe that there’s something new to learn every day, no matter how old you are or how high your IQ is. So, if you find yourself without any summer plans, no flights to catch nor road trips to take the next couple of weeks, why not try your hand at something new instead? It is never too late to develop a new skill or take up a new hobby 😉
Here’s a roundup of upcoming workshops that you might want to join this summer:
1. Scribble Workshop with Ink Scribbler Team
The workshop will tackle drills, fundamental strokes and freehand letterforms – perfect for beginners! Materials will be provided, including a 15-page worksheet, straight holder, one piece of nib, jar of ink, and a clipboard.

2. Handmade Watercolor Weekend with Life After Breakfast
This is a two-part workshop with Alessandra Lanot of Life After Breakfast. In the morning, you will learn how to mix pigments to create your own set of artist-grade handmade watercolors. Afterwards, unleash your creativity in an afternoon watercolor painting session filled with florals!

3. Basic Papercutting Workshop with Para de Paper

4. Summer Workshop Series with Te Amo Floristeria

5. Basic Improv Workshop with Gabe Mercado

8. Cactus and Succulent Dish Gardening Workshop
Have you ever dreamed of having your own garden? Well, here’s a start – learn the fundamentals of making a combined cactus and succulent dish garden with The Green House Project. The workshop will start with a lecture about the concepts and aspects of a good dish garden such as the do’s & don’ts as well as choosing the right plants. After the lecture, participants will proceed with the workshop proper wherein they will create and design their own pocket gardens.

9. Craft MNL: Into the Bloom
If you love flowers but don’t have the time or patience to take care of the real thing, go for paper flowers instead! In this workshop, you will learn how to cut petal shapes and put them together to create a flower. Sounds simple enough, right? You will then experiment with different colors of paper, petal shapes, and structures to create your own full bouquet, which you will of course, get to bring home at the end of the workshop!

10. Cold Process Soap Making
All-natural vegetable-based soaps – what’s not to like? Each student will experience making their own 1-kilogram batch of Natural Vegetable-based soap. Each kit for this session yields an equivalent of up to twelve bars of soap, and includes a take-home of the following items: wooden soap miter box mold, goggles, soap cutter, and sample soap recipes.
