Bringing Back Heritage Through Rizal Park Hotel
Rizal Park Hotel is one of the hotels in Manila that has preserved its historical background and significance. This is due to the fact that this particular hotel has been standing in the same location of the Manila Army and Navy Club which was the icon of 1898. This was also the first American social club in Manila wherein the wives of the Army and Navy officers would dress up and spend the day drinking tea or cocktails while socializing. This social club was the center of Manila’s social life and to this day, the luxury and elegance of this place still stands.
Not only is this hotel full of historical wonders, it is also one of the best hotels in Manila. I had the opportunity to stay in this luxurious hotel along with my friend. We had both stayed at their Deluxe King Room which was also facing the bay. We were able to witness the most amazing views of the sunsets right from our hotel room! Our Deluxe King Room was luckily on a promo rate of only P3,600 for two people and it was also complete with a complimentary plated breakfast.
The hotel offers a wide range of different types of hotel rooms such as a standard room, army navy suite, premier suite, etc. Our room was spacious enough and the interiors were absolutely stunning. It felt like entering a European hotel. The décor was classic. The room has private corners with a high back rest chair and your own wall lamp. It also came with coffee choices and a kettle. The colors were cool and the prints on the tiles were beautiful. Overall, the hotel and its room’s façade was gorgeous.
The bathroom is another highlight as it was incredibly spacious. Plus, the pressure of their shower head was absolutely perfect. Both my friend and I, loved the shower! Although, we had some trouble with our toilet because it took some time for the water in it to go down. But we called maintenance and they were able to fix it right away.
Our complimentary plated breakfast came with a few choices namely Longganisa, Tocino and Daing na Bangus. We both had the opportunity to try all the choices and I have to say that my favorites were definitely the Tocino and Daing na Bangus. The Longganisa, on the other hand, was okay but it could have been better. The breakfast also came with a choice of tea, juice or coffee. For those of you who love to indulge in hearty meals during your vacation, the hotel also has a restaurant that provides a buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner. Their breakfast buffet which is aroung P850 has various types of food including an egg station, cereals, tapas, sushi (yes, sushi!) and even dim sum. All the while, their lunch buffet is priced at P1,250 and serves dishes from different types of cuisines such as Filipino, Chinese and Mediterranean. Lastly, their dinner buffet at P1,900 serves mouth-watering dishes like prime rib, rib eye, turkey, prawns and crabs cooked with different styles. The restaurant also offers a la carte dishes which have a starting price of around P280.
The hotel, right now, has a couple of facilities that are available for checked-in guests. There is a wellness spa and a casino right by the café. There’s also a planetarium which you can go to and is available in packages the hotel offers. However, the hotel is new and is still undergoing some construction, like their infinity pools. It is said to open by next year. I was also told that they would have a sea bus from their port to MOA, but this isn’t working yet and there still isn’t any word on when they intend to start using this.
The staff at Rizal Park Hotel were very admirable. During our whole stay, they never failed to make us feel safe and welcome. The staff were always smiling and ready to help in whatever way they could. The security staff were a little tight and incompetent, but overall the hotel staff were gracious and courteous, which is a big “thumbs up” for me.
If you feel like exploring the area, there are numerous things that you can do to fully enjoy your vacation. Feel like taking through the Philippines’ history? Take a tour of Intramuros on bikes or Fort San Antonio Abad near Rizal Park and ride a Calesa to complete the experience. You may also visit Quirino Grandstand if you’re up for going on a walk or jog. If you feel like seeing Manila’s best sea creatures, head on over to Manila Ocean Park and try their sunset bar. Museo Pambata, San Agustin Museum, National Art Gallery and the National Museum are also close by in case you want to drop by. Cruise along Roxas Boulevard, experience the Manila life and take a side tour to the Cultural Center of the Philippines. Various restaurants and malls are also nearby, like Mall of Asia, Robinsons Place Mall, Binondo, Mabuhay Restop and Rizal Café.
Overall, I would say that the Rizal Park Hotel is definitely one to experience. Its beautiful interior and exterior, complemented with their brilliant staff and delicious food. It’s sure to give you an experience that you will be craving all the time.
