Home Caterers for Your Holiday Feasts

The holiday season is in full swing! Depending on your barkada, you might opt for a Christmas feast at someone’s home instead of dining out. It’s more comfortable, it’s private, there are no crowds, and no corkage fee!

The only challenge is: what if no one can cook or has time to prepare it? Rather than having everyone bring a hodgepodge of potluck items, why not all chip in for a gourmet meal prepared by a home caterer for a truly festive celebration? Here’s a list of tried and tested home caterers around the metro.

Pria’s Kitchen

Food enthusiast, food blogger, and caterer Pria Chiongbian Solon has been in the business of food for over 18 years. Before she ventured into an ala carte home cooking business called Pria’s Kitchen she used to do recipe development for major food corporations and was a co-owner of Cooking Basics Culinary Studio in Alabang.

I’ve personally ordered from Pria’s Kitchen for several occasions. The first was for a Christmas turkey dinner at home for 5 persons. It came with all the trimmings of Italian sausage stuffing, garlic mashed potatoes, mushroom gravy, and cranberry jelly. Not only was it delicious, we had so much turkey leftover—perfect for take home.

Another occasion was for a family reunion of 25. That time, we were too lazy to prepare food so instead we chose dishes from her a la carte menu: her famous chicken relleno, fish fillet in caper sauce, and paella. Everyone raved about the food and all I had to do was order and pick it up.

Pria’s food definitely offers that home-cooked vibe: quality ingredients and generous portions, and she is most willing to accommodate special requests. An added bonus is Pria’s Kitchen Gourmet Bulad, a dried fish relish inspired by Pria’s maternal grandmother that might make a great gift for your hosts.

Hailing from a family of restaurateurs, Happy Ongpauco-Tiu studied at the Culinary Institute of America and opened her first business at the age of 24. Now, the Happy Concept Group includes World Topps, Bento Box, Hawaiian Bar-B-Que, Pamana, I Luv Backyard BBQ Joint, and Tsokolateria. Through her passion for entertaining and collecting beautiful dinnerware, last year Happy decided to offer Private Dining to those who wanted to host their own parties at home.

Anyone who has had the pleasure of being her guest at home knows that when Happy entertains, she goes all out from the delicious food, to the presentation, to her creative tablescapes. The same can be said when you hire her to do your own private catering. “I think I’m the only caterer who brings her own furniture for catering set-ups. This differentiates me from other home caterers,” she said during an entertaining event hosted by Inquirer RED where Happy catered and shared her ideas for making original table décor.

Clients choose from the different themed cuisines that are complemented with the décor and plate ware personally owned by Happy that she willingly lends for the catering – including sets by Hermes and whimsical Fornasetti. Rest assured that should you choose Private Dining by Happy Concept Group, you’ll have a beautiful experience filled with treasured memories.

Another lady who made her love for entertaining at home into several businesses is Trish Panlilio of NawwTy’s Kitchen. Aside from offering a la carte food services and custom catering, she is the brainchild behind the open-air foodie heaven Gourmand Market and restaurant Mulberry Door, where customers can enjoy her food on a whim.

Trish’s specialties of gourmet comfort food include dishes that you would expect to make a holiday feast grand: Paella Negra with Aioli, Prime Rib Roast, Roasted Garlic Crab, Baked Salmon, Lengua Estofado and many others. Be ready to expect rich, delectable food with premium ingredients such as crab roe, truffle oil, and caviar.

Pria, Happy, and Trish’s delicious dishes make entertaining at home easier. Dining at home for the holidays has never been so stress-free and of course, fabulous and delicious.
