July 24, 2017 8:00 am by Katrina Castaneda

Now that you’ve plotted the places to visit with your kid, now the next question in mind is “where to eat?” And there is nothing good food cannot fix especially after a long day of walk that feels like eternity. We give you places to choose from where you could enjoy your food while the kids enjoy their sanctuary too aka the playground!

 1. IKEA restaurant

Since IKEA built a brand that is meant for building a home, they also made sure that families are treated with sumptuous meals after a day of home shopping. With two big establishments located in Alexandra and Tampines, families are served with affordable Swedish dishes including our personal favorite, meatballs with cranberry sauce. They also have Smaland, a supervised play area, which is located just right at the entrance.

2. Marche Movenpick Suntec City

Marche brings in a European market feel and doubles as a classroom for your little one where they get to see the different dishes from the market stalls. Get to know the ingredients of crepes, rostis, pastas and more and how they are freshly made. While waiting for the food to be served, you can bring your child to the two-storey playhouse tucked at a corner of the restaurant that has a suspension bridge, a short rock-climbing wall and a secret kid’s hideout at the second floor.

3. Open Farm Community

If you’re an advocate of healthy lifestyle, then you’ll absolutely fall in love with their farm-to-table menu made especially for you and the tots. They have a grocer garden, collection of sculptures, a coffee shop called Farmacy and a kid’s sandpit with a wooden cow playground. Spending a day here will definitely reset one’s body and mind.

4. Eat Play Love

Located at the Aliwal Arts Centre, enjoy an intimate indoor artsy time at Eat Play Love. They provide a craft table filled with art supplies-from beads, markers, colored papers and more, which will leave your child busy as you indulge in their Thai-Western food selection.

5. District 10 at UE Square

Don’t shy away just yet from this bar and restaurant. They promise to offer good food and great play space for the kids too! Apart from the play area that consists of ride-on cars, mini tables complete with art materials, your child will definitely go crazy over their bouncy castle! Some parents also opt to have their child’s birthday celebrated here because of its spacious 240sqm play area where kids could play around freely for hours.

6. FoodFare Clementi Hall

Don’t feel restricted with your selections especially if you feel like trying out one of SG’s food courts. FoodFare has a dining area made especially for kids. They have kid-sized tables and chairs that may not be available in other food courts. This dining area faces a playground and TV for cartoon-viewing. And the best part, they have meals called Happier Meals served in animal bento boxes. A bonus is that they included a parent’s room, a private area meant for changing diaper or breastfeeding.

7. Platform 1094 Harry Potter themed restaurant

Now let’s leave some room for the tweens who can’t get over this popular novel created by J.K. Rowling. The restaurant quickly transports the diners to Hogwarts with an interior of warm brick walls and wooden furniture. Have their Giant’s Breakfast, Mr. Lich’s Flaming Brew or Blood Berry for a sweet ending. Oh for the muggles who want to enter the magical world, don’t worry, props like wands and hats will be provided. Good luck!

It’s so amazing to think how this small country could offer so much for us- good food plus good places to check out in every visit. Now pin this for later and tell us which one has captured the heart of the whole fam.
