Cult Beauty Brand Tom Ford Makes its Mark in Manila

When the to-die-for cult luxury beauty brand Tom Ford Beauty opened its first counter in Manila in October 2017, many Filipina beauty lovers rejoiced. Those in the know no longer needed to wait for a trip abroad to buy their favorites while those who have never experienced a swipe of a Tom Ford lippie or sniff of his signature scents would soon have their world rocked. Now with the opening of Tom Ford Beauty’s second location and the first store in the Philippines to carry the complete Tom Ford Beauty collection, beauty addicts will be able to get to know even more iconic brand products for the face, eyes, skincare, lipstick, fragrance, and men’s grooming.

Making his mark in the fashion world by sexifying Gucci in the 90s and eventually becoming its creative director, Tom Ford decided to leave in 2004 to put up his own eponymously named company in 2005 to offer his aesthetic for menswear, women’s fashion, accessories, and beauty. Ford’s finger has always been perfectly placed at the pulse of women perhaps by really scrutinizing it with his trademark penchant for detail.

Tom Ford Beauty, part of the Estee Lauder Companies, started out with a bang in 2006 with the sensuous and spicy Black Orchid — its notes of black truffle, bergamot, and patchouli, and its equally glamorous packaging. It quickly became a top-seller in unisex fragrances. In 2011 when Ford started selling lipsticks at US$50 a pop, many wondered if they were worth it.
